PRONE TO WANDER

a spiritual journey.

My identity has only been In two things: My culture and my religion. I was raised in a Christian family and in a Christian church. The beliefs never came to me — I was born into it. I've never questioned why I believed and why I would be so passionate about a higher deity. This is the first time that I have collected fragments of my scattered thoughts, questions, doubts, and confusion about this identity that I've unknowingly placed my entire life into. For 21 years, this has been the drive for all of my actions, the hope in my desperation, and the hate for my shortcomings.

“PRONE TO WANDER, LORD I FEEL IT.

PRONE TO LEAVE THE GOD I LOVE;

HERE'S MY HEART, LORD,

TAKE AND SEAL IT,

SEAL IT FOR THY COURTS ABOVE.”

"Prone to Wander" speaks that journey — a journey of spiritual transformation from blind acceptance and complacency to self-discovery and conviction. The title itself comes from an old hymn called "Come Thou Fount". A verse in the hymn expresses the human vulnerability that comes tethered with a longing commitment — in this case, our reverence for God.
